EXCAVATION BEGINS AT NEW YORK REMEDIATION PROJECT |

Portage, Inc.’s subsidiary, the Accelerated Remediation Company (ARC), recently
began excavation activities at the Separation Process Research Unit (SPRU) Land
Areas Remediation Project in Niskayuna, New York. ARC was awarded the soil remediation
contract in September 2007. The project covers approximately 15 acres of land, of
which about 5 acres are estimated to be contaminated chemically and/or radiologically
from past operations. Prior to the start of excavation, ARC completed the site preparation
work necessary to start the project and obtained approval of the program and procedures
